Fitting a subwoofer into a 996 cab?

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone had put a small subwoofer into there 996 cab at all?

I have a 99, C4 Cab and the stereo in it isn't as good as i'd like it to be. I have the front end speakers already, but I will be purchasing the bass speaker, (8" or 10") so if anyone knows of a good speaker that fits and where it fits it would be appreciated. even box dimensions would be of help, or if there is a half decent sub tube that goes in with built in amp, i'll look at that too.

cheers.

I have - it sits in the passenger footwell and then the mat folds up over it - unless youknow its there - its actually hard to notice it!Its a Tube design made by Bazooka and really adds a great deal of quality to the sound! I think its a 10" but not sure - it was in the car when I bought it so not sure of model number. I have my amp in the luggage compartment which is, I think the best place to have it. Coupled with my new Pioneer double din nav unit (fitted by me a couple of weeks ago) and Morel speakers I dont think there is a better sounding system - and it looks pretty much OEM apart from the speakers in the rear which have to be surface mounted....just wish the previous owner who obviously liked his "sounds", and had endless bucketfulls of cash to spend, had invested in a PSE instaed of c. £5K on the stereo!!

If the car had been factory fitted with Bose where would the sub have been?? (I assume it has one - my last two cars have had Bose and the sub has been mounted in the boot).

Could make use of that space / mounting??

I have found a car that I am very keen on, the only thing it doesn't have from my ideal list is Bose, assuming I could get the parts could this be retrofitted or is this a really bad idea?

My 996 has the bose system and it seriously gives some decent bass.
I havent had time to look over the car etc but i will check over the next few days if i have time.

I think it might be a bit of a nightmare to retrofit Bose, with all the fibre optic loom, etc. Not impossible, I'm sure, but it is bound to be expensive.

I had Bose fitted in my previous cab, the roof folds into the area where the usual Bose sub box fitted.
It gave no where near the bass that the coupe did... however having the roof down with a reasonable system playing more than made upfor it...[8D]

I notice that the Targa diagram in Richards post shows the sub-enclosure to be in the passenger footwell, rather than in a box behind the rear seats (like in the coupe).

I wonder if it's possible to get this sub-enclosure as a seperate part, it would be a good addition to the standard audio setup that I have, without using up valuable interior rear storage space.
