FITTING BRAKES

Hi all,
I have a 220 turbo and want to fit the 250 calipers and discs. The car is in the garage at the moment. The calipers are on using the adaptor brackets but the discs won't fit my hubs. They suggested to use the later hubs but if they have bigger bearings they won't fit ether. Im thinking just refurbing my old calipers but i did want the bigger calipers and discs. Any ideas on how they can fit.

Is your's an early offset non-abs car? Did they make turbo's with the early offset? Mines an '87 turbo and the larger calipers and discs went on with adaptor brackets no problems at all. If it is an early offset car then you should be able to get the calipers on but will need some different discs.

Yes there were early offset Turbos. Everything on them was different; hubs, suspension legs, wishbones etc. and I think you have to change the whole lot if you want to go with later kit.

Yes was thinking about changing my brakes and as an early offset turbo was going to have to change alot of other bits too. Plus it would mean that my early offset Cup 3 alloys would then have to go as well - so scrapped that particular idea !

Will look for better discs and pads plus braided hoses rather than going for the "250" set up.

Is there any other discs that will fit or should i keep with the old ones and change the pads hoses and discs?

At a guess you could sell them for more than the cost of a replica set for later offset (and yours are replicas for sure), plus the later offset ones are much lighter.

Yup they are Milie Miglia (or however you spell it !) only had them for a year so wasn't too keen to get them changed again though as sounds like they may pay for the replacements thats worth thinking about again at some point.

You must be able to spec up a two piece pair of discs from an outfit like AP brakes where the inside hub part is the right offset. It'd cost you more but I love the look of the two-piece disc assemblies. Might be worth a look.

Has anyone fitted two piece discs and know the size of disc i would need for the later caliper and the older hubs as i want to phone around tomorrow.
