Fitting central locking

Apart from the wiring I believe there is a "Central Locking Control Unit" somewhere under the dashboard.

I believe the usual comment is that it is easier to fit an after-market kit than try to replicate the Porsche system...

I bought those bits, then gave up!

Tref.

Hi Nick
no - I was contemplating it for the 924S I own, but am selling. The '88 944 replacing it has it fitted.

Cheers

These eBay items will probably need an electronic control unit to send pulses and activate the locks. Look at maplin.co.uk. They do a kit with a control box for about £30. I fitted the same solenoids to a 924 I used to own and made a control box. They fit easily with 2 holes in the door inner skin and the rod connects to the existing locking pin rod with a clamp.

I thought I'd revive this thread instead of starting a new one ...

Can anyone tell me where the standard factory central locking control unit should be?
My car originally had central locking but the solenoids/actuators have been removed and I wanted to see if the control unit was as well. If the control unit is still there then I'll just refit acutuators, otherwise I'll go for an aftermarket system

Thx
Chris

Its usually clipped to the steering column under the dash. Its a black box about the size of a pack of cigerettes.

This chap speaks the truth. It is as described on my '89 S2 for sure.
