Fitting Lower control arms.

The Saint.

New member
I now have a set of 4 coffin arms, and am considering doing this myself, I have a C4 2001. Has anybody fitted them? Is it straight forward? I read that the bolts need to be torqued when the vehicle is at ride height. Would think it would be difficult to do without being on a lift. Would appreciate any advice. [:)]

It isn't rocket science. Other than the right spanners and sockets, you just need a really good joint splitter and a torque wrench. If you drop me an email, I'll attach the instructions to a reply. I'm away for the weekend, but will do it Monday PM when I get back.

hi, I replaced all my coffin arms and fork arms last year. the front were straight forward but the rear ones were much harder. the problem was that the rear concentric bolt on the coffin arm seizes and has to be cut through using a electric saw. I had the use of a four post ramp and would imagine that it would be almost impossible to replace the rear arms without a ramp. Richard will know if anyone has replaced them without the use of a ramp. I bought the four coffin arms and fork arms at a deal price of £750ish from design911. I then took the car to Centregravity to have the alignment checked and adjusted for what I thought was going to be around £350 but ended up with a bill for £870 after Chris (the owner) discovered some other work that was required. hope this helps. regards ray.

With TRW ones being so expensive or just not available I wondered about these. Alternatively Hartech do refurbs for 75+vat each.
I'm going to need some so it may well be Meyle ones.

I rang Hartech, but had no re-furbed arms available. They did have 2 new arms at £100 each, they were Meyle.
They said they are good quality so that's good enough for me.

Worth knowing.
I can only find 4 meyle ones at 269 on ebay. Do you have a link Richard?
