Fitting new chrome exhaust tip

Well, 2 days into S2 ownership and I'm loving it!! A quick query -- the original chrome tip went bad and was taken off some years ago. It was documented in the service history. So, courtesy of PorscheShop a shiny new tip arrived today. However, there are no securing bolts and it appears way too big for the actual tail pipe. Am I missing something, or have they sent the wrong bit? It appears as if it should just push on, but of course just slides around and would fall off straight away. So, any bright ideas re. fixing it, and are there different sizes of trim?
Many thanks all.

The standard factory chrome exhaust trim just slides over the tailpipe and gives a tight fit by itself. Maybe you don't have a factory tailpipe or maybe its rusted away so much that the standard tip no longer fits (or maybe Porscheshop didn't send you a standard tip)

Right, thanks for the quick reply. Tail pipe itself is a bit corroded, but I don't think it's shrunk and I presume (but don't know) that it is an OEM part. I have a feeling it's just the wrong trim, yet their site doesn't specify another choice. Either way, it will have to be returned as it's clearly massive. May take a trip to local motor factors to see what they can do.

Hi
The tip is I guess about 5 or 6mm all round larger than the tail pipe but there shoule be some springy bits inside the tip which hold it in place.
I thought the exact same when I got mine, but it fitted perfectly.
All 944s have the same tail pipe and I have only ever seen larger rather than smaller replacements

I bought the oval 944 chrome tailpipe trim for my 968 at Porscheshop/Porsche and Polo 18 months ago, it was a snug slip fit over my factory fit original exhaust so I drilled a hole and put a self tapping screw through from underneath. Worked perfectly!

Just done the very same! Quite pleased at the mo so here's hoping it doesn't fall off in the next 50 miles...!!

Just realised why they are large - so that any water that goes between the inner and outer will drain away and not rust the pair!

The other alternative is a full stainless exhaust like my 2.7 which apparently cost £400 - but it does make a nice burble[:)]
