Fitting new door scrapers

Hi all,

With some time off I've been fiddling with the car, and of course broken it. :ROFLMAO:

I've got two new external door scrapers to replace the perished ones. Does anyone know how to fit the things? I can't get them to fit in to the metal channel that's clipped to the door itself: they are too tight to get in, and I don't want to damage either part.

Hi Paul

They shouldn't be that hard to fit. You may need to pop off the door card to check the little fitting lugs. Some may be MIA or bent. I bought new sets from OPC for pennies when I done my driver side one. You need to fit the front end in first, ie dashboard end, get that seated then you should be able to manoeuvre the rest into place taking care to engage all the clips.

Thanks, Stuart.

I've got most of the clips in place, but can't get the things down enough to clip in. The metal groove is too tight? I might have to open it a bit but am wary of messing with the existing parts! [:)]

As Stuart says, I found it quite easy with the door cards off... fit the front end first making sure it's properly located into the metal angle piece near the A pillar. The fit of the clips is tight....I used 2 pieces of wood about 3''x2'', one on the rubber and the other as a 'soft' hammer. A spot of grease on the clips also helps. Worked a treat and a huge improvement for not too many £'s. Paul...if I managed it, I'm sure you can.

Paul,

If it's anything like the replacement of the channels on my S2 then it's a pig of a job. I can't remember the detail of it but it wasn't an easy one and took much longer than I expected. I think I had to take the window out as well.

Best of luck. It's possible. Take your time and it'll be OK.

Oli.

Pet says 10 needed @ 77p each inc vat from your local OPC of course, I have a couple left over from when I replaced all my rusted out ones

I struggled with this I'm told that the best way to do it is removing the metal trim that fits to the door fit the seal then refit the assembly, I've not tried this method as I'm busy building new house to house the car but come summer I will be re-fitting
