Bought some new Bosch headlamp lenses. They fit fine to the headlamp unit and the whole unit slips back cleanly into the headlamp surround. The problem is that it is impossible to lock the lamp unit using the small lever in boot! It must be something to do with new unit as put the old lens back on and all fine. Any bright ideas anyone before I force it with probably poor consequences ?? Cant believe I am posting on this as so minor but anyone had similar issues in the past?? Any hints gratefully received.

I changed mine earlier this year and its massively worth it but its a real bugger i know. I ended up nearly breaking a thumb trying to get the level back in the locking position after getting the headlamp back in. Your not doing anything wrong its just not as straight forward as it should be. The one think i couldnt manage was to the headlamps in place and to attach themselves into place so i leant inside and snapped the plugs off the unit and attached them manually! Good luck
Blimey.. and I thought it was just me!! Thanks for all your help chaps. Much appreciated as always. Maurice, I will take Kens number as well if I may, in case a combination of soap and brute force dont do it! The worrying things is I thought this was the easy bit before I tackled the fog/spots in the bumper. What joys do I have ahead of me on those ??

Well u gotta get rid of them somehow!!!
Mission accomplished chaps. Thanks for all the help and guidance given. Always appreciated, esp by those, like me who are not natural 'tinkerers' but are too pig headed to admit they cannot do these things. Now I have a brand spanking new set of headlamp lenses and fog/side lights. Apart from the odd chip, the front end looks just like it would have done in August 1997. In case anyone else picks up on this thread when scratching their heads about why their new lens / lamp units wont fit when they look exactly the same as the ones they have have taken out the answer was, as it is with so many things, a drop of WD40, on the seal. Thanks again to all who contributed.
