Hi, I have finally got fed up with the luggage compartment and engine covers not staying up properly and have ordered some new stays. They look rather tricky to fit unless you have arms like a Gibbon. Any advice or tricks of the trade to help me sort this ?
Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon, it's not a difficult job, the bonnet struts are a push click fit, all you need is a screwdriver and the bottom mounting will lever off. Put the new one in by reverse procedure. The top mounting is obvious.

It took me about 10 mins to do the pair!!!

... and the engine cover ones are just about as easy. The right hand one is easier if you remove the cover and the filter from the airbox. The left hand one is more tricky as it's not worth the hassle of removing the heater gubbings that's in the way so you're kind of feeling your way. But both should still only take 15 - 20 minutes in total.

Just keep a good grip of the clips that slide over the pins as they can easily ping away both when you're taking them off and when you're trying to put them on again []

Loop a length of dental floss around the clips so that WHEN they ping off.......you can retrieve them from the depths of the luggage / engine compartment.

I had a go! Managed to do 2 of the 4 in an hour, cut my finger and scraped my knuckles. Nasty metal clip on near side front designed to slice fingers! One of the front ones refused to budge and the left one at the back has been left for another day. But the good news is that the lids now stay up! The floss tip was v helpful.
Hey ho!

Never encountered any sharp bits on mine, I doubt you have the M 450 masochist option fitted to yours [:D] [:D]

The rear left is definitely the most difficult of the four but I found a lot of swearing and cursing and a good few deep breaths got it done
