Fitting new sunroof seal

Just got my new seal but looking at it the bit that grips onto the lid rim seems a bit wide and tapers the wrong way. Is this normal or does it have to be glued, sealed or crimped on or something?
cheers.

Not sure about on a 924, but I believe on a 944 there are two types... I bought one from Bert Gear, and he asked specifically at the time about the shape of the old seal, and his advise was also not to cut, it is supplied the correct length... which made it very difficult to fit, but did seal!

I got mine from Porschshop because it was cheaper and Bert's website wasn't clear on which one i needed, it was
-86 or 86- and my car's an 86, Porschshop's site supplied one for all years which seemed less fraught with risk.

The cross sectional profile of it looks right but it's just that gap where it fits onto the lid lip, if nobody is able to clear the air on this one i'll just go ahead and see how i get on but there's on point in rushing in if i've got the wrong seal, if the job's worth doing it's worth doing right.

Ended up having to cut it which was pants, just wouldn't fit.

Then had to walk on my precious roof to get it to go down far enough for the arms to engage...but hey no leaks so far!
