Fitting Skirts

I have won a pair of turbo skirts for my 944. The sills are being welded up and made solid, but its not going to be pretty so I'm going to fit the skirts over the top to make it a little easier on the eye.

Anyone got any fitting instructions for these?

Im going to sand them all down and prime them and then take them to a body shop for painting :)

These are the skirts http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=130321145847

I think they would be bonded on.

They are not 'turbo' skirts, they are an aftermarket add on

Sort of crap.

Theyre not necessarily an aftermarket item Paul, although those do look like copies. I owned a 1985 car which came with the slotted rear valance and similar sills: both of which were options from new. I bought the car off the first owner, so Im confident that this is correct. The valance was made out of ABS and the sills appear to be a black plastic with glass fibre reinforcement and very different from traditional GRP.

Are these them ? http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.jeffwenger.com/images/porsche944-4.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.g3.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000020.html&usg=__9u6-hdkDRp9dSQH88AJZBcmJKBg=&h=767&w=701&sz=90&hl=en&start=68&um=1&tbnid=mD6fjH3VPdtGvM:&tbnh=142&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dporsche%2B944%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:eek:fficial%26sa%3DN%26start%3D60%26um%3D1

I can confirm that this was an OE option on the original 2.5 Lux . I had a new 944 delivered by AFN Isleworth with Side skirts and rear Slotted Valance (a bonnet scoop was also available) They did however look much squarer than your e-bay photo. They seemed to be fitted over the standard sills and you were always scrapping them with your shoes as you climbed in the car. Unfortunately though Ive got photos they are hard copy in an album and not digital ! The 80's was a long time ago. But as a facory option I cant shed any light on how they were fitted.
The second photo look precisely as I remember them

I had mine removed when the car was converted into a hill climber. They were riveted in a couple of places, but principally held on with what appears to be Sikaflex.

Good stuff I quite like the look of them in the second photo. Also they are going on a 2.5 Lux that already has a slotted valance (looks factory) so may actually go quite well :)

Silkaflex, think I have heard of that, will look into it and have a poke about when I get them. Cheers guys, you have set my mind at ease! Im not going for concourse but I don't want it to look naff either :)

S i k a f l e x, not Silkaflex. This is their home page. When youve worked out which product will suit you best it can usually be bought most cheaply on eBay, although Screwfix arent particularly bad and their shops are convenient.
