Fixing the roof.

Now things have warmed up a little and the sun is shinning, I'm going to get my roof sorted. I've got a a pair of push rods after the cap broke on one of mine, I've also got a pair of the rams that lift the cover panel as one of mine seemed to have been ever so slightly 'bent' at the top.

I've also got my self a copy of the '101 projects for your Porsche Boxster' which seems very useful and informative.

I also thought I'd check on here as I'm sure I'm following a well worn route!

I take it both plastic ball cap ends should be screwed down the same amount of threads? I only have one of my 'originals' as I threw one away as it was broken before realising it's importance.

Once they are both at the correct length and fitted, as nothing else (motor/winder etc) has been moved or changed will it be a case of everything will be spot on or will it be likely that they will need adjusting as there was obviously something wrong for it to break in the first place?

Any advice or previous experiences greatly received!

I've got all the bit's changed over and in place but I'm struggling to re-connect the push rods to the control lever. I was wondering about getting another pair of hands to activate the roof switch and turn the lever to the required position.
The only reluctance I have at the moment doing this is in my head, rightly or wrongly, I feel it should mate up just by moving the roof manually to the required position and the same with the hood cover?

I think I may have found the problem, or at least one of the many problems. I decided to remove the whole system so I could open up the drivers and reset the gearing to the same position in each motor so I could ensure that both were in the same place when everything was connected.

Upon removing the drivers, one was a new style and one the older style! The system may have been put under further strain as the longer standoff bolts for the later style hand been fitted to the side with the earlier driver on, almost certainly adding undue stress to the system.

I think I'm just going to replace the whole lot and know everything is ok that worry about what other bodges I may have in the system.
