Flappy paddle PDK

Thanks for that Gary. Have to say that looks a bit yuk though.

In all honesty I got used to mine, very handy being able to change gear up or down one handed (yes I'm lazy lol)

Twas only a matter of time........ Thought Tequipment would get there first to generate more income![;)]
PS Of course it would invalidate all warranty, especially the gearbox if it disintegrated!............. there I said the W word - again[:)]
PPS The price seems cunningly hidden.....![&:]

Senna

You are being polite - the steering wheel got hit with the ugly stick quite a few times. [>:]

I opened up the beige one, surprised I kept my sanity - some things ar enot meant to be seen by mortal man[][][]

Having siad that its good the options of a conventional paddle shift is finally being offered[;)]

Porsche one should be out next year:

Gary,

Thanks for the info, I had already seen it on DR, but glad you put it on here too.

As most have said, its a bit ugly, and what will it do to affect the warranty on our shiny new P cars?

Also and the most concern for me personally, what has happened to the rest of the controls that we have on our multifunction wheel.

I have to say that I have become so used to it, and its more intuitive than I remembered when using PCM on my last C4S, that I now just use it from the wheel without thinking about it.

I think if I even consider changing I will be waiting for the tequipment version, if I was going to change at all that is.

I don't have the multi function wheel but I think there are bound to be warranty issues. I will wait too and see if Tequipment bring one out - and how much!
How's the Caterham Nige?

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the feedback!!

In regards to the Caterham R500, I am ashamed to say that I have not been out in her since the doningon track day, and the last Midlands Breakfast club meet.

The reason being that I have been a bit preoccupied with the imminent arrival of our new little baby girl.

So I am also proud to announce that our second baby, a little girl - Lucy was born yesterday morning at 03:13 AM, weighing a healthy 8lbs 13 ozs.

She has already had a trip in the Targa, I used it to send her to sleep on a nice little cruise around today.

Alan,

That's a very good point, not thought about putting littel Lucy, or even Thomas for that matter, the problem with the Targa Cam, or Cat Cam depending on which car its mounted, is that it is a very fixed focal length camera that needs to be mounted in a permanent mount.

Still it might be fun to try some Lucy Cam POV to see what it comes out like.

Thanks again for the congrats though!!

I'll be the second then [:(]
To say congratulation Nige [:D]

I'll have to add a NSFW warning now we have baby pictures in the thread [;)]

Fitting of the wheel would certainly void the new warranty but its good to see an alternative - even if it is ugly.[&:]
A reason for posting was to show a glimmer of hope that maybe Porsche themselves will move forward with a flappy style wheel, even if it was an option..
They seem to follow rather than lead as of late.. [8|]

Sorry Gary, a little diversion from the topic there![;)] As an authority on warranty matters what do you think the view would be on this sort of mod? You will recall that one OPC claimed that if I stiffened my suspension they may not cover an engine failure under warranty! So I can see them using a similar argument with this steering wheel.

Out of nothing more than curiosity I have contacted Porsche to ask about warranty if this wheel were to be fitted........By the time I get a reply there will probably be a Tequipment version out anyway![;)] Definitely not compatible with multi-function wheels.

Congrats Nige. Lucy looks wonderful. They grow up fast. My two girls are 11 and 17 (and boy do they like spending lol)

Hi Erkan,

Many thanks for the congrats, and yes I know how quickly they grow up, Thomas - our first is only two and a half years old now, and is going on for acting like a teenager, IE I don't want that, I want that, and I don't like those trousers I want those trousers etc etc.

So I will have to start saving big time, if I want to keep the 997 and put them through a decent education that is!!

BYTW, sorry guys for turning this thread into a ahhh new baby fest post!!

Nige.

Mine are 26 and 23, and the day they both finally finished studying, got jobs and had their own income is a Hallelujah day indeed! I'm now doing my best to spend their inheritance...........[:D]

Back on thread, Gary's and my post about warranty crossed before. I'll be interested to hear what the reasoning is (if I get any) as to why it should invalidate the warranty and, again. all of it or just certain parts (like the gearbox[&:])?

So available as an option from Porsche themselves from 2010 build, cost at about £500 [:)]
