flashing red light on door

my red light that flashes on top of the locking button on the door has stopped flashing - does anyone know if i can just change the bulb and if so how do i get to it ?

cheers [:)]

Phil,

I saw your question and immediately went to offer a suggestion since I had a similar problem with my 964 for a while. In my case the flashing light is an LED inside the button - but there is NO electrical connection to the button. There is a small coil mounted around the button which is driven from a small transistorised switch and the current through the coil imparts a current through the LED to make it flash. Clever eh???

The only downside was that I looked on PET for the 92 944 and it doesn't show a coil - just the button.

It MAY be that the 944 arrangement is the same as the 964 - in which case you'll need a new coil (mine was about £26).

Best I can do I'm afraid.

Regards

Dave

I have 2 buttons and no wiring any more. I still need buttons, but I'd be happy to swap with broken light ones if you want?

my 1989 944 has two wires running under the door card to the lock button red light. It looks like a solderable type neon bulb. i would asume it is identifiable by your local electronic shop (such as Tandy)

Thanks for the advice and for your offer Fen. I'll have a closer look at it (probably take the door card off) and I might come back to you Fen and take you up on your offer

Phil,
I have one that I took off my race car project, its complete with the wires, you are welcome to have it for the cost of the postage. I'll have a rummage.
Drop me an Email.

There's offers coming from all sides now - possibly better to go with andy over me as he doesn't want one back.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]"Always zees flashing knoebs..." (at least one person on here should find that funny, I hope)[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

thanks very much Fen and Andy for your offers, but my flashing red light has started flashing again so it looks like it's fixed for now - but thanks
