flashing red light on door

I saw your question and immediately went to offer a suggestion since I had a similar problem with my 964 for a while. In my case the flashing light is an LED inside the button - but there is NO electrical connection to the button. There is a small coil mounted around the button which is driven from a small transistorised switch and the current through the coil imparts a current through the LED to make it flash. Clever eh???
The only downside was that I looked on PET for the 92 944 and it doesn't show a coil - just the button.
It MAY be that the 944 arrangement is the same as the 964 - in which case you'll need a new coil (mine was about £26).
Best I can do I'm afraid.
