Flashing!!!!

Could anyone clear up a query I have on my 89 2.7 944. When you use the flash with the lights off, should the main light units pop up. Mine don't but they do flash, straight at the floor !!!!. My bumper lights flash when the main lights are on or off. My old MR2s used to pop up quick and flash. Just wondered if its a relay issue or 'normal'.

Both my 924 and my 944 S2 did not pop up to flash. Only the driving lights flash when the headlights are off.

Pop ups can be up but not lit, with the side lights on so I'm not sure why they would light when flashing. I haven't checked but I would suspect that's not mentioned to happen

I am pretty sure that both of my 944s have the main beams flashing blind in the headlights when the lids are down, along with the main beams in the foglight housings.

That's correct the driving lights flash but the main lights do not pop up but obviously will flash when in the up position. My Mk1 MR2 pop up lights used to lift when you flashed the lights so cool.

Thanks guys, one less potential problem. Whats the usual reason for the headlamp wash not spraying, You hear the pump but nothing else happens. Doesn't leak anywhere so could just be blocked perhaps.

Seeing your list of cars I'd be more worried about the starter motor failing on your V10....

A friend had an 04 plate one with 100k and it failed... Almost wrote the car off.. Ask your local dealer for a price not only for the starter but also labour to replace it......

Regards

Bill

Hmmm. Suppose we should all buy Dacia Sandero's just in case then!!!!. A Touareg V10 would be the best built, most refined, powerful and comfortable 4x4 you'd be too worried to own, Shame cos they are awesome. Its only a car, with the same bits as any other, Dealerships are to be avoided as specialists are half the price. Starter motor?, I'm more worried about the gearbox!!!!. I take it you don't know whats up with my headlamp washers then.

Judging by the last couple of 944's I've owned. At some point the hose behind the bumper will have split or a fitting come apart and a previous owner probably will have plugged the line as when it happens the contents of the entire washer tank drains out.

OTT - sorry - I had a Touareg V6 TDI Sport for 18 months having owned landcruisers - I ensured I had an aftermarket warranty for everything - especially the gearbox/rear oil seals as you have to take the engine out to replace/work on the gearbox!!!!!!! - I thought about a V10 when looking at first and researched the costs when they go wrong!!!!! Terrifying! Paint and interior trim doesnt last and turbos go regularly - they are all held together by plastic clips - Sold it asap.

Had forgot about landcruisers, I agree that they are top quality but the one I drove was a bit agricultural in comparison. Don't really see why people have to slag off your stuff and the first comment received was not really neccesary and totally off topic. My touareg has been faultless so far and you pays your money and takes your choice. I take it you dont know whats wrong with my washers either.

Yep, I think we should all beat a work ethic into the next generation of work force. The latest one hasn't amounted to much.

Had a look see today and you are bang on the money. After removing the driving lamp, what should I see, but a pvc pipe coming from the pump with what looks like an M10 bolt forced into it. Mystery solved. Question is, do I bother reinstating it. Have to see how bored I am one weekend
