Flat battery and electrics are dead

I've been in Thailand since October and although a friend has occassionally started my Boxster S but as there is no MOT or TAX on the vehicle that's about all he done (turned it over). Having returned I put the key in the ignition to start it and the key is now stuck as well as the battery being completely flat. The bonnet/boot will not open with the manual button next to the drivers seat so I cannot access the battery to put it on charge for a day (if this is the correct thing to do?) If any of you have got any advice or knowledge I would be extremely grateful. Many thanks Jules.

Hi

First thing to open the fusebox (by the driver footwell) and check that you have a red lug that pulls out (on the bottom row). If you don't have the red lug then you will have to do a search on the forum as I cant remember the procedure!

If you have one, then you will need to park another car alongside and connect the red lead from the donor car battery to the red lug and the black lead from the donor car to the door strike

You should now be able to open your bonnet

Good luck!

...stick your fingers in your ears first though - the alarm will also go off!

I forgot about that bit!

However, I have heard that if you have the key in the 'ignition on' position then this may not happen - not sure if that's true though.....

You may benefit from one of these if you are going to be away from the car for such long periods...it will prevent it in future.......don't leave any interior lights on though.. Can even be connected via the ciggy lighter for ease.
