My 944 stood for nearly 3 weeks recently and started on the first turn of the key,I have used the car with no problems until this weekend when I did alot of miles with no problem.Car stood overnight with alarm on as usual and when I went to start this morning the battery appeared flat[].Boosted the battery and it started straight away with no problems starting for the rest of the day.I had a similar problem last year and after trickle charging the battery on 2 occasions throughout the year, had no more problems.
Does anybody else experience this problem please?
cheers
Alan

Some weird drains on the battery.
Clean all the fuses and the courtesy light switches on the doors.
With ignition switched off and key not in use a multi meter to check for current drain. Meter on the battery terminals and remove each fuse in turn. Sorry if I'm teaching my granny to suck eggs.[:)]
You can usually prop the meter up so that you can see it from the passenger side.
Cheers,

How old's the battery? They can do stange things when they're on their last legs. Espcially if they've been charged a few times.
Can you swap it with one from another car, see if the problem follows the battery or stays with the car.

I had very similar problems to you and after having a boost the car would work fine all day. The next day, again it would fail to start the first time or even if it had started the first time it wouldn't start again 15 mins later. I swapped out the DME relay and never had the problem again. I cannot be certain that this is the solution it is worth a try, if it isn't, it is always worth having another DME hanging around as these can fail without warning. They cost about £20.

Another place to check is the starter motor leads are secure, if the motor isn't getting enough juice this would cause a similar effect to a low battery.
Good luck.

Appears to be the battery as I charged it yesterday, did a 7 mile drive and after 1 hour the battery was dead.£59 later and heres hoping[8|]
