Flat blade windscreen wipers

Has anyone tried the newer technology flat blade windscreen wipers on their 993? A recent Auto Express product test gave the Valeo Silencio X.TRM top marks and suggested that these particular ones fitted older style wiper arms.

My car came with the flat blade type wipers when I purchased it. They are fine, although still not quite flexible enough to wipe the extreme corners of the screen where it curves more tightly round to the pillar.

Hi, I have also fitted these to my 993 about 7 months ago. They worlk well enough, altho' as JB 3.2 says, they are not quite flexible enough to get the corners....

Rainex works pretty well too (or similar products) to "minimise" using the wipers....

Hi JP

I find RainX works well (although difficult to apply) until you forget its on the screen and use the wipers. Do you use RainX on just the parts of the screen that the wipers don't touch, or the whole screen?

I have a set from ACE parts on mine they work well, although the place where they hook on could be slimmer

For John Bray;

Hi John, I use RainX on the whole screen, and it works well enough... I also use it on all the exterior glass too.. As you said, difficult to apply but definitely worth the effort!

I use silicone racing wipers by PIA - essentially look like normal wipers, but absolutely no juddering & no missed bits on the screen.

Only problem is that body shops have big problems with ANY silicone on paintwork, but that problem can be overcome. Have not had any problems with "Zymoling" the car either.
