...or buying a cheap tyre inflator (powered by the lighter socket) taking it to your nearest tyre centre and getting it plugged (if possible), saving you £££s.
My 997 came with a tyre inflator - but not sure whether it's a cheap one [].

Yes thats something we have been hearing... luckily or unluckily as the case may be, they do have Bridgestones in the country!! []ORIGINAL: Sunil
I just hope it's not a Pirelli - I need a new rear tyre right now and there aren't any in the country - apparently!

Rang Porsche Assitance on Monday, who sent out the RAC. RAC man plugged tyre which enables upto 250 miles at no more than 40 mph.
Tried etyres - they never called back. www.tyretraders.com was cheapest on a Michelin PS2 N1 - £192.70 fitted !
All this may help someone else in a similar situation...
1. Does the tyre pressure monitoring system make this a mandatory OPC visit?
2. Tyres have done <5000 miles but I will need to change both - yes?
3. Assuming that I don't have to use an OPC can anyone recommend a West Midlands (ideally Kingswinford/Stourbridge/DY6 locality) tyre depot that can handle TPMS and be relied on not to damage my rims?
4 Region 13 has a specialists near us thread which lists two tyre dealers:
http://www.hardytyres.com
Eclipse Tyre Services - Alcester (01789) 764033
Anyone have any experience of either/both of these?
5. What's the going rate for front 235/35 ZR 19 Bridgestones?
Thanks

I've just had mine done this morning - £193 all in from Kwik Fit (although at 1 1/2 hrs they weren't kwik at all). They price matched and were able to get a tyre overnight - ordered yesterday at 4.30pm and fitted this morning at 9.30am !
Got them to check the alloy over before starting the job. They did an excellent job - watched over by me throughout. I didn't change both sides - read below - can always swap old tyre back in 2 weeks but don't think I'll bother. They had the correct valves to match and the zinc weights. Most difficult part of job seemed to be getting Porsche crested centre cap off the wheel !
They were also able to send the punctured tyre away for a full repair at a cost of £52.50 - takes two weeks to get back. With 5mm on the old tyre (8mm new) figured it was worth having as a backup.
Michelin N1's are made for Porsche cars - have a softer compound than normal.

Poor luck Allan. Sorry to hear.
I've just had mine done this morning - £193 . . . .
Thanks for the feedback Akis. I wasn't expecting fronts to cost that much[&:]. Do you have TPMS fitted?

Wish I did. Unfortunately not. I didn't think £193, all in, was that bad.

They were competitive on cost and had no issues with the TPMS.
Its a bit of a Trek out for me, but they have a wealth of experience of sports cars and have never caused any damage to any of my rims.
I have yet to hear a air ratchet being used.. torque wrenches everytime []
The Central Porsche centres use the Pirelli agents in Birmingham and Coleshill, the name escapes me at this moment...

BTW Graeme Burnett, R13 Moderator, says that Hardy can also be relied on with the advantage that they're little closer to home.
