There speaks the voice of good sense. Your £600 944 could end up being a worthless lump of junk if the belt snaps.ORIGINAL: rcsalmons
Forget the paint and change the belts/rollers.
Oli.
400 miles .... before or after being laid up?
4 year old belts are too old.

Sounds like a bargain, just be aware that some jobs on a 944 are critical. The belts are one, four years is, indeed, absolutely the longest you should leave them regardless of miles. I'd get this done before being tempted to drive it.
I'd guess the tyres will be shot after 4 years outside, and check fuel and brake lines very carefully. The electrical components might want changing, and obviously new oils (include gearbox) and antifreeze. You might find oil seals hardened after 4 years, some of mine had after less than 2.

Mine was as flat as Stanley when I got it:
So I used Simoniz liquid Claybar originally and now just use Zymol Cleaning polish, which has similar properties, once a month to keep it shiny:

To restore paintwork try some of the below.
If you are doing it yourself or dont want to pay for a machine polish.
Clay Bar Meguiars + Lube or Bilt Hamber Clay no lube needed just water.
Polish loads on market autoglym super resin will work ok.
Paint Cleanser, Dodo Juice lime prime Is pretty good.
Wax loads on market again try Dodo Juice Super Natural or Swissvax.
All are a personal choice and price varies.Use whatever works for you!

Look I have done quite alot of paint over the years. sure you can get a shine but will it last with out you needing to get the polish out every few months
OK you need to wash it real good
look over the paint and mop it with G6 ( G3 is abit harsh ) lots of water with the electic mop and a new head
jet wash the car again to clear all the G6 off
G10 lots of water keep it moving
Jet wash, clay bar, Hand glaze and then S21 Wax
if you don't get any of that take it to a decent body shop and get them to do it and will prob cost you about £100-£150 cash..
you then get some thing like this then...... a mirror
