Flat spot at 2800rpm?

I've just started noticing a mild flat spot during medium acceleration, at about 2800rpm in 2nd. Not sure if it's just recently started happening or I'm only now getting really familiar with the car. Any ideas what this might be or is it just perfectly normal? It's like there is just a tiny blip in the power delivery at this particular point, no loss of power just an almost imperceptible pause. Obviously at those revs in 2nd it's more like I'm just trundling along and perhaps it's just engine management doing its thing to deal with producing a bit of power at low revs. Does anyone else notice flat spots like these or is it something I should keep an eye on.

Are you sure it only happens in second gear?? Otherwise I would have said it's your MAF sensor (airflow meter), around £140 direct from Bosch or £300 from Porsche [;)] take your pick!!
I have heard some companies clean MAF sensors using ultrasonics, but I don't know how successful this is.

I haven't noticed it in other gears but I haven't driven it all that much since I started noticing the problem. I do need to bring it out for a proper blast and check.
