Flat spotting tyres

Had quite a big moment yesterday. Caught a small bit of kerb coming out of the chicane at Goodwood so loads of sideways up the straight, thought I got it but then snapped and went the other way (not enough of throttle by me ???). Then span clockwise. Missed the wall by inches.... Thank you upstairs.

Everyone was on about checking for flat spots. Car drove ok and nothing visible. Anything to worry about re tyres ?

If it drives without vibration - I wouldnt worry. flatspotting usually caused by locked brakes in a straight line (doesnt sound like you had your brakes locked for all of this spin?). You've probably got away with it.

Sounds exciting!

I ve done it in the race car, it can destroy a new set of tyres instantly. But, as you say you have no vibrations or at least new ones after the spin so you re ok.

MajorPorsche - I'm guessing only on slicks, I've only ever flat spotted slicks. (despite plenty of spinning and locking up treaded [list 1b] tyres)?

Impressed you are giving it stick at Goodwood, with such small run off areas......

I would be more concerned about flat spots from a car sat stationary in the garage without use for an extended period.

What did you do instinctively....all in? (brake and clutch)...or pray?

Not enough lock and didnt keep foot down enough

Wow - that does look exciting - really glad it didnt do any damage. Nice to see people using the cars properly.

Great pics....On the back of those, you could have just said you managed to retrieve the car from some crazy slip angles at Goodwood and we would have you down as a hero! [:D]
