flickering pixels

one more thing (i spent all weekend in the car, sorry about the number of posts!) - when the satnav displays a roundabout the left side has pixels that come on and off. i know this isn't right but i have been told it isn't the speedo. anyone else got any experience of this? retentive i know but when you notice it is irritating.....

My dodgy pixels are either a broken rev/speedo (covered by warranty) or messed up satnav (around a grand...ouch). If it is the latter does anyone know if I can upgrade to the newer satnav unit - if i have to get a replacement then i'd rather get a better version. car is 04/05 987. Thanks!

Depends on the other options in your car. If you have Bose , then a new PCM will be incompatable with the bose amp , so you need to update the bose software before replacing with a newer PCM. The same goes true of the navigation unit , though these cannot be updated to be compatable. You either need to be selective in the PCM unit you get , or accept that you need to replace the PCM and the navigation drive together. There is a pcm of the earlier variety for sale on e bay at the moment. Remove the cover from the side of the centre console and check what version / serial no you have currently. The numbers must be the same part number, one digit difference can mean the unit is not compatable.

i had no idea there were potentially two parts to this. so there is a communications unit and a navigation unit? interesting, as the problem i have only occurs when using the navigation - when the arrows and roundabouts appear on the rev counter it goes nuts. any other time it is fine.

oh, and i don't have the BOSE, just the upgraded sound package.
