floppy clutch pedal

when my brakes get hot ...the clutch pedal has a habit of staying depressed and have to hook my foot under it to pull it back up in order to make the next gear change. If I forget to do this then with the pedal already down the clutch doesn't disengage making gear changes a bit of an effort.
Pedal staying depressed doesn't happen if just pootling about ,except that theclutch has to be pushed right to the floor normally otherwise the gearchange is v. difficult, 48km on original clutch.

Does any one else get this floppy clutch when brakes hot?
 
yes mine did that but only on trackdays, ninemeister bled through new fluid and lubed the mechanism at gearbox end last year and its been ok since but when i push the clutch up and down with the engine off i can hear it starting to creak again so im expecting another repair soon..... hope ninemeister brings his toolbox to tycroes 27th may!
 
Search www.rennlist.com 964 section for "hanging clutch" its reasonably common, mine did it too when hot
i never found the fix though although lubing the bushes under the floor (board) did help mostly
 
This happened to me once after a track day, didn't really associate it with hot brakes though.

I had some one take a look at it and he suggested that it was the clutch master cylinder at fault. He suggested "picking it off the floor" and letting it recover, if this didn't work it would warrant further investigation. Never happened since.

I had this on a 964 that I owned back in 1993 (my first 911!). The issue was the clutch slave cylinder. Robin Sun also had that on his 993 (I used to live in Atlanta not too far from MR www.p-car.com). I suspect that he's got a fix on his web page

I had this issue on my RS during track days.

After my clutch slave cylinder sheared a bolt and had to be replaced, problem gone.
 
well , trackdays is the common factor here!
Hi Keith, I did phone up 9m about this before posting to the board , and Steve there reckoned someone had had same problem, they changed the brake fluid and it went away...might have been you !
from memory the clutch slave cylinder is a possible culprit and is one of those thingys that is hidden away by the gearbox so generally gets ignored....
 
The clutch hydraulic system rarely if ever gets bled, the slave cylinder is stuffed up out of view but is still exposed to heat from the engine and g/box, so the fluid gets contaminated just like the fluid in the brake system. Colin at 9m reckons more often than not a good bleed rectifies the problem.
