Foam in PU air vents

Okay, car was on the ramp the other day and I was having a nose about, and saw some stuff inside the airvent in the PU , when I poked it , it floated about loose, and broke up into dust, or small pieces. This was the same in both air vents, I was keen to get it out as I did not want it in the fans or rads. As I only poked it from through the vents, I do not know where it came from, as i thought the only access was through the wheel arch liners[:mad:] Any ideas what it used to be , and am I going to have to rush off to find some replacements.

Probably the a/c sealing wedges, item 19 & 20 in here;

I had exactly the same experience a few weeks ago and could not fathom the cause. As I don't have air-con, it can't be that. I will be interested to find out and replace if necessary

I am told it is probably something to do with the front PU, it is being investigated on Tuesday . I will report back

Interesting event. I make no claim to foam issuing from the PU vents 0f my 993 but when I took my car to Bedford Autodrome a few years back for an afternoon blast, black plastic mesh was hanging out of the vents on both sides after five vigrous laps. I pulled it out, and at the next service asked my local PC what the sample was. They had no idea and to this day I am still wondering. AC works well and oil temperature remains constant when on the move so assume all is well! My annual run to Stuttgart went well and before the weather went mad. Since then not much action.

My indy suggests that the wedges fit between rads and fan housings, and their is a possibility of abrasion between the two if wedges are not in place? any way being done next week.
