Fog light/extra headlight removal

A screw which holds on the glass on my fog lights/additional headlights has corroded to such an extent that the Phillips cross for the screwdriver has rusted away, making it impossible to unscrew and hence remove the glass. The head of the screw will have to be drilled off but I will have to remove the light to gain room to get at, and remove the remaining stump. My question is- is it possible to remove the light by removing the nose and getting in beneath the air filter, or do I have to remove the undertray and get in this way.I am reluctant to remove the undertray as I suspect more rusty screws. My car is a 1990 s2.

You can get at the passenger (left) side by removing the batwing (The front bit of undertray that's attached to the front PU). On the driver's side access is blocked by the oil cooler though, so you'd need to take the front PU off. Just been there and done that. I didn't have too many issues getting the front off, the screws are mostly ok - but watch out for the ones at the extreme ends that attach it to the bottoms of the front wings.

Edit: Thinking longer about it, the fastners I had problems with were the captive threaded studs on the ends of the batwing which attach it to the bottom of the PU. I ended up having to replace one of them with a bolt, but it wasn't a big issue. The screws in the light units were a whole 'nother story, though!

The front PU is easy to remove - 3 bolts either side. The lights unplug from the loom fairly easily IIRC. Watch out for the washer hoses though...the connectors are old & fragile.
