Fogged Headlight lenses

The headlight lenses on my 996 C2 are slightly fogged, and look more cream than pristine white or clear.

I haven't seen many others like this , and my indie says they can be cleaned/polished off. The question is - with what?

Also my rubber front screen surround is loose and can be pulled up - probably shrunk over the years , needs glueing in /resetting - with what?

Thanks

I assume you men the fogging is on the inside. If so, you could try cleaning them like jonc4s did: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/fb.asp?m=653071

If your car is an earlier C2, then there is a foam cord kit to tighten up the screen seal. Drop me an email, and I'll attach the instructions to a reply when I get to my PC tomorrow.

If it's the outside it is likely the UV protective coating breaking down. With a machine and polish you should be able to make an improvement. If they look a bit glittery that'll be the coating breaking down. Expect to re-polish them from time to time as they have no protection from UV at that point. Much cheaper than replacing. You can buy headlight polishing kits if you have nothing suitable.

Clean up the insides of the lenses as I did thru the rear access, bit fiddly but possible. Then polish the hell out of the exteriors, should make an improvement
