Folia tec vinyl colouring for dash refurb

I bought a can of Folia Tec vinyl colouring spray in blue for the princely sum of a quid in Halfords bargain bucket bin. According to the can you can change the colour of any vinyl part or revive your vinyl. As the next job for me is replacing my dash, (when the engine is back together off course). I was planning to have a go at refurbing the old one, rather than throw it away. My plan is to use common household flexible filler or some plastic filler then spray it with this folia tec. Has anyone attempted this or not or even used this Folia Tec as it almost sounds too good to be true.
