For anyone sitting on the fence...

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]For anyone on the fence about the RSRs... Would highly recommend it... Went over to Carnewal to see Gert this weekend and had the modification (incl. motorshound airbox) and am very happy with the result... Gert is a great chap, absolute pleasure to deal, knows his 993s inside out and I'm very happy with the new mufflers.

The car now sounds like it always should have, and is not boomy or uncomfortable on the motorway...

Only thing i'd do differently next time is take an extra day or two and spend it in brugge chilling out...

(not affiliated with carnewal in any way, just a v happy customer)

Me too! I find mine a touch boomy but well worth it for the awesome noise when you wind it up! Nice driving roads around Carnewal's too.

I agree they are pretty good. I get a bit of resonance at about 70 on the motorway, but fortunately this goes when I get to about 80. I particularly love the noise when it starts although I fear it wakes the neighbours!

Agree with all the comments - there is a bit of boom around 2-2.75k rpm... 70mph on the motorway you definitely feel it, but disappears closer to 80 as mentioned above... personally still think its worth it as the bassy rumble is great... i would not want to go back!

Does anyone have any figures on decibels for these systems as I do a number of trackdays and they're getting quite keen on noise levels. But having read this months PP and the article on the 964 "silence is golden" maybe if they are too loud then these little mufflers could be shoved in the end for the track day.

I will have ours at Longleat for the Championship hillclimb on 22 Sept. The noise guys will be there I think so I will ask them to check out Blue when they are not busy with the competition cars. I'll post the results here.

Got the noise guys to do a test on Blue on Sunday. At 4,500 rpm the readxing was 97decibels and at 5,000 rpm it was 101 decibels. I know all cars are different but it will give a rough idea of likely noise levels from RSRs. 5,000rpm I think would be the test for racing being 75% of a rev limit of 6,600 which is where my red line starts. Hope this helps.

From memory I failed the static test at Bedford at around 101.5db, but then on the drive by it was only 85ish, which for some reason I found very disappointing.
