For fans of speed yellow

Took this at the weekend about 5pm. Had done some serious graft with a pot of Zyswissol, finally achieving that 'almost wet' look and the shadows were further enhancing the curves. Of course, having written this, the attachment probably won't do it justice but here goes!

Thanks Maurice, I did have my doubts when I shelled out for the clay to carnauba gear but it's worked a treat.

You're right Kenny, occasionally (as it's a little conspicuous!), there are times when I've taken the family car instead rather than risk the wrong kind of attention. My wife on the other hand takes it everywhere!

David.

Looks very good, all it needs now is some metal polish on those tail pipes[;)]., and the jobs complete[:D] .

Alex

You're not wrong there Alex, they were in a poor state when I bought it. I've tried some heavy polishing with Autosol which brought some improvement along with a touch of RSI. Are the tails an integral part of the exhaust or are they available to buy separately? (one false move and I'm on the slippery slope to pride of ownership/concours....!).

David.

Solvol on wire wool brings the standard tips up ok, saves the trouble of hacking the bolts off...there is no way they can be unbolted after a few years of heat and corrosion.

I like the colour...I am starting to come round to it on the 993 [:D]

David ....I agree with all thats been said wrt tip removal, no point trying to save the bolts just use a angle grinder, be very careful not to damage clamps as they cost ÂŁ35 each.

Whoa - just looooooove the colour!!! Awesome.

I only wish that more owners had the courage (back in the 993 era as well as now) to order speed yellow. Silver, seal and atlas grey just don't do these beauties any justice.

I think the 996 GT3 in that colour with the black wheels is the best looking GT3. I like all the unfashionable colours including the 964RS ones. The pastel yellow which they also did on the 993 looks excellent but my favourite colour is white. Ever since I saw a white 911 with the Martini stripes probably 30 years ago I've longed for one. If ever I found a plastic bag full of cash I'd buy and send a white 996/997 over for the full Gemballa treatment (doubt they work on 993's anymore). The way Gemballa accentuate and contrast the black on white through colour coding the wheels and air intakes etc looks amazing.

And as a C2S owner - it's all about the looks ;-)

Ha ha I know what you mean - the more mileage I put on mine and the more I improve it the less I dare drive it... and I'll NEVER let the fiance drive it when I'm not in the car it's 'just a car' to her!

Could be a bit of a catch 22. Perhaps if you guys let your better halves drive your pride & joy a bit more they'd finally get bitten by the Porsche driving bug. Wait for that inane grin to develop and you know it's too late. From now on you'll have to fight them for the keys. So better let sleeping wives lie [&:]

I ain't gonna tell them if you aren't ...

Roger that. Interesting article anyway. I, for once, am intrigued by the cylinder head upgrade! If only it wasn't so expensive...
