I'm afraid that I wouldn't know the difference, Paul. My son tells me that he's not going to play around with this one, just drive it as it is and sell it in a few years time and use the money towards a new house. Meanwhile, at son No.1's garage, the other Focus monster, this time an ST has had some new mods, an air suspension system and I believe that a 4WD conversion is currently in the offering. I wish they would hurry up, my car can't get painted until this thing is finished and out of the way.. or so they tell me...blade7 said:These look much better than the Mk3 FRS.

The ST is over 400bhp, my son sent the engine to Portugal for a special mod that was only available over there? No.2's new toy is over 350bhp but I don't know what mods have been done yet. He only bought it this week, all that I do know is I love the sound, it's very loud.. very F1 sounding noise, pre small CC turbo's...a real boy racer car...

Hmm...are you sure it's not you who needs to hand your Fast Ford card in Paul ??...????blade7 said:The Mk2 had the 2.5 Volvo 5 cylinder engine. The Mk3 has a 2.3 Ford Ecoboost 4 cylinder engine. Hand in your Fast Ford card on the way out Pete. []
After all, it is a Mk2 and it does have the volvo engine..

Think Paul knew that given that the he said "The Mk3 Focus RS is a 4 cylinder, 4 door, with 4wd Pete. Looks pretty plain to me, but is probably faster on the road." just up there and your sons is clearly a 2/3 door he also said "your sons looks much better than a MK3."PSH said:Hmm...are you sure it's not you who needs to hand your Fast Ford card in Paul ??...????blade7 said:The Mk2 had the 2.5 Volvo 5 cylinder engine. Handy for me as never being a ford fan, I didn't know the difference was the mk1 front wheel drive only?

Hi Tony... I wasn't having a pop at Paul, just tongue in cheek banter, I was well aware of Paul's earlier posts...944Turbo said:Think Paul knew that given that the he said "The Mk3 Focus RS is a 4 cylinder, 4 door, with 4wd Pete. This car is FWD and as mentioned the other Focus ST that's at my other son's is currently being converted to 4WD. This MK2 isn't standard, it has been fitted with the latest suspension, alas I forget what it's called but seems more like a race car setup than a road car.

haha.. oh you are so so wrong... I only wish that they stuck to straight lines. I won't get in the car with no.2 anymore..... he scares the life out of me.. his middle name should be "drift"..... he doesn't know how to drive any other way I'm sure...The police even have video of him leaving the yard and drifting his 32-ton tipper truck.... the officer actually said and quote: 'I don't care what anyone says but that was some serious car control'.. they let him off, he has the charm of the Irish...There's also a video of him drifting around that small roundabout at the Ace Cafe in his Cossie.. trust me, he will outdrive most out there, he has plenty of skill and mad enough. He's also a professional driver and classified to drive just about anything out there, including tracked vehicles.blade7 said:For performance cars, I was always anti front wheel drive. Then I bought her indoors a brand new mk7 fiesta ST as a runaround. I reckon that car would give my turbo a hard time up to 100 mph on most twisty B roads. But ultimately it does understeer, and I hate understeer. So I reckon your sons are both straight line heroes Pete.

Haha...ok...you got me..??????????blade7 said:Should I use the net or the gaff I wonder...
I've driven a fair few front drive Ford's, some of them truly terrible (any Escort) but most of the Fiestas were great. It did amaze me when I looked under the bonnet of my ex's 1999 example. I thought it was broken when I first drove it. 1.3 litres of OHV anchor. My first car had a more advanced engine (83 Datsun).
I think the road tax was higher than my 83 944 at the time too.
I can't drive small Ford's these days. They have a habit of putting a ridge around the centre console/gear shifter I catch my leg on drives me mental.

The mk1 Focus RS was front wheel drive only. Up until fairly recently you could pick them up for £10-15k, which is quite ironic as they were probably made in smaller numbers, had a special diff and brakes, and probably drive better than the mk2 or mk3 versions.
