For those with A/C equipped cars

Hi, I am looking to replace the fresh air blower relay as shown on the diagram below. Does anyone have any idea where I can find it??? (Looking at the coloured wires coming back from the relay board, only the air conditioner relay and cooling fan relay are on there)

Figured out nothing is wrong with the relay but my A/C switch. Does anybody know what the part number is for this item?

You can get a PDF version of the parts catalog here - they are kind of handy
www.porsche.com/.../porscheservice/originalparts/originalpartscatalogue/"Ž
OOPS! file not found
Hmmm - seems like most sources of the PDF catalog are not available - suggest you use Pelican Parts or similar to look it up - Pelican for one does display the Porsche parts diagrams and numbers so you should be able to find it pretty easily.

leepox, The recirc switch went on the blink on my control unit. The switch was available, but prohibitively expense from the OPC. In my research I found there are two kinds of control unit with respect to button replacement. Look for a website about the repair, I found one and it explained the difference. Since I had the earlier type that did not have push fit buttons (I think they are soldered contacts) I opted to buy a used controller, for a lot less money than the new switch.

I would sell you my original unit, as the Aircon switch was ok, but it's the soldered together type and I don't want you to go into this without first checking that you are confident in stripping the unit first. Let me know what you think after looking into the type you have and the type you need.

Hi Jim, I looked up that part but it looks wrong compared to what I have. Pic is below. I am even more confused now as that's the part being shown on the porsche catalogue. Oh dear :D

Hi Paul, the one I have seems to be a thermostat switch connected to a fan speed switch of some sort? The whole assembly looks like this:

leepox,

Do a google search for these words and you'll find a pdf, entitled Heater Control switch LED upgrade. Download it and you'll see the types of controller that were made.

"Using a fine blade or similar implement (and extreme caution so you don't injure yourself!"

My spare controller is the "early" type. If you can make use of my controller let me know.

Incidentally, the OPC charge £110+VAT for the LHS twin button switch!.

Regards
Paul

If I keep the '44 Turbo, the first thing I'm going to do is rip my air con' out! It must weigh at least 50lb [8|].

That's exactly what I did on my turbo, I did have a non AC alternator bracket lying around which helped. Gets rid of some clutter in the engine bay too. I replaced the air con controller with a standard one which seems to plug straight in. Can't say I've missed it. Non of which helps the OP as he has the early dash model.

leepox - It looks like you may have the switch that I mentioned with the booster 477 959 431 attached to it, although I'm only going off the catologue.

Hi Paul thanks for the offer but I think I'll pass as the switch assembly does look very different from the old one.

Hi Jim, yeah I am contemplating of removing the A/C but then I am thinking of all the rewiring I need to do. It may or may not be simple. There are these three wires that I can't figure out from the wiring diagrams but if i connect the br/yellow to brown the blower fan works, if i connect the br/red to the brown wire the A/C works albeit in full blow mode. So yeah I am now wondering what could have been the configuration inside that bit of the switch that broke off. Really sucks as I can't sit in traffic without overheating, or use the heater when I am getting crazily cold in the car.

Thanks for the help so far guys. Looks like a trip to the dealership for me, but not optimistic how they seem to be as lost as me over the phone.
