Forest Green

In Joy of Specs section in today's Autocar, they suggest the following spec for a Carrera

- Forest Green (is that the same as Rainforest Green)
- Sport Design Wheels
- Bi-xenons
- rear wiper
- sports steering wheel

What do you think of that?

I like Rainforest Green. Does anyone else? What will resale be like?

I saw that and laughed.

The article was supposed to be recommending the optimum simply spec'd 997. But it suggested paying an extra £1,521 for a special colour - Forest Green. It may well look nice, but greens are tricky colours to sell on and that money could buy a lot of other options. Ditto the £1,255 for Sport Design wheels.

Green is always difficult to sell. Some love it - I do. Some hate it though.

Some say green is unlucky for a car. My green car suffered roughly 1 knock or incident* every 6 months. So that's obviously untrue, then. Not.

*only 1 was my fault, although that one was my fault big time....

Do you think that Cobalt Blue will fare any better on resale.

Which is the best "statement" colour to have?

Spizz

Forest Green - yuck!! That is the one colour that I would never buy, certainly wouldn't pay a premium for it. They are very hard to sell on.

The best special order colour I have seen is a frosty blue (somewhere between silver and blue). Silver looks great on a car that is a good shape but a bit common. The 911 I saw was colour to sample so not a cheap option but everyone who saw the car gravitated toward it - stunning.

How about picking something you like?

I have just sold a Rain Forest Green TT, very different to Forest green in daylight.
You will get knocked heavily when you come to sell it, the dealers only want black or silver. You buy with the heart etc, to them its just money..[]
I liked the green although as stated it can be defined unlucky, always got attention though as it was very different from the normal.

I saw the article of a must do "order forest green" and laughed out loud, must have been written by a dealer.....
