Would anyone be interested in these? I spoke to a manufacturer yesterday who still makes them. I was put onto them by Barrie Nixon at Compomotive (son of the Components Automotive owner) after I asked about new rim sections for my 3pc Compomotive (original Compomotive) wheels.

They are three piece with billet centres and spun rims, with all of the fixings hidden so they don't appear to be mutli-part wheels. You can make any offset by using a combination of inner and outer rim sizes, which means that the wheels can stay with you for ever and this will help to justify the substantial cost. They aren't particularly 'dear' though, with the cost being similar to any other new three piece wheels.

What weight is a 9x17" ?

I take it the 5 Star Fuchs classic pattern is the style you have in mind Simon?

The "from the solid" centre is not so strong as the forged centre, so the new forged Fuchs would be better.

My experience of BBS RS split rims, was they leaked air and the studs corroded like a 1970 Lancia

I had a set of Compomotive 3 piece on a Capri I once owned. Used when I got them. Had the centers media blasted and repainted, used new o-rings and they worked fine. I had to replace 2 rim sections as the prior owner liked curbs but I don't recall them being hugely expensive - just took a while to get as they had to come from overseas.

I recall they weighed next to nothing as the rims were spun aluminum and the centers were alloy. I'd have them again.
