Something that members who are not attending the Silverstone Classic on Saturday 27th July may enjoy is a cross country drive to one of my favourite events of the year, the VSCC Formula Vintage motor race meeting at delightful Cadwell Park in the Lincolnshire Wolds. We will meet up with friends from R4 Lincolnshire & Humberside, parking at the top of the hill in the Gooseneck viewing area from 10.00am. Turn right after passing through ticket control. Advance tickets are £17 from MSV but will be more expensive if bought at the gate.
This is an informal gathering to enjoy the company of like minded people, the racing which is usually close and exciting, at close quarters and the amazing historic cars racing, in the paddock and in the car parks. Viewing is excellent as are the facilities. Food available at the clubhouse which overlooks the track is very good.
An R4 tradition is that Sylvia, the wife of the R.O. Rod Stormes brings some of her delicious cake to share. May I suggest that if there is a baker in your house that you also bring a cake to share and we can have a ‘Cadwell cake corner’.
Whilst I would like to know who is going, there’s is no need to commit yourself, you are welcome to simply turn up. For members who would like to meet up and drive together, I suggest meeting in the car park of The Red Lion, Todwick at 8am for an 8.15am start. We should arrive at Cadwell by 10.00am after a pleasant drive. North Lincolnshire is not flat, the circuit is like a mini Nurburgring.
