Found my boost leak

Like it says in the title.

Using the Sims patt boost leak finding kit (not the one with the rubber glove that almost poisoned me) I have found the little sucker (or blower).

What is sickening is Cannell told me where it was months ago - he's such a clever clogs, if he wasn't such a nice person you could probably hate him.

Any road up, I know where it is and, in the interests of a bit of entertainment, please feel free to guess.

Your wastegate was missing?

It was fitted by a bunch of amateurs after all [:D]

[:D] Nope. It seems to be there still after my indi cunningly fixed it with studs instead of bolts.

Try again.

rubber connectors to intercooler

ISV

CV if its connected

plus a small leak from the throttle body

I'll have a stab at the ISV on the basis that it is tucked away below the inlet manifold so is not as accessable as the others, which I'm sure you would have checked out several times already.

All valuable comments and I did have the inlet manifold off previously for that very reason. Very frustrating when you go to all that trouble only to find you still have a leak. []

So......no......not the ISV

Intercooler to hard pipe rubber couplings?

I think just about all 944 turbos have leaky throttle bodies though as well.

Thank goodness for that, I am forever explaining to customers why the side of their throttle switches have been blown half off and why it would be a good idea for me to rebuild their throttle bodies for them... But most of them ignore the leak.

So what was the leak then?

4 goes but only one leak. So which one is it?

You just haven't found the other 3 yet! ;)

If its a big one, (and you have done the ISV) IC couplings,
Tony

Faulty Dump valve ?

Thats a good point, do you have a Baily or Forge dump valve on there John? lol

I have a Forge dual piston and it passed the test with glowing colours. And it sounds lovely when it dumps as well. [:)]

Intercooler to hard pipe rubber couplings?

Been replaced and work lovely. I also bought some replacement silcone hoses for the intercooler juctions but concluded the Porsche ones were better. The Porsche ones have shoulders so grip better and give a smoother interface.

What surprised me is, while it isn't a big leak, it does make a noticeable hiss. Well sufficiently noticeable that I found it immediately. I even asked Belinda and she concluded it was coming from the same place that I thought it was. This was only at 1 bar and I could make it worse with the action of one finger.

Contrary to Tony's comments it is the only leak I could find - but now that I have found it I'm not sure how to cure it.
