while looking on tipec last night, found this article, i would love to have helped, but am working, does anyone in the lincs area fancy helping out.

Dear Sir,
My name is Linda and I live in Kirton, near Boston. My daughter will be 16year old next week and I really need your help to make the day special for her.
She loves porsches and takes pictures of them if she gets close enough.
I'm looking for someone that will be kind enough to drive her in their porsche from Kirton to her 16th birthday party in Boston. The journey is about 3miles and should take around 10mins.
I've tried hiring, but no one hires out such beautiful machines. Then I thought that maybe someone else who loves porsches won't mind showing off their car and helping us at the same time.
I want to make a big deal for my daughter's birthday because she has been ill on and off for 3years. In April 2007, she had a cold, then sinusitis, so we thought. Within a few days, she couldn't walk and or go to school.
Numerous tests later, we were told it's all in her head. She was still ill. Fortunately for us, someone suggested Queens medical centre in Nottingham and we finally got a diagnosis of POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardic syndrome). We'd never heard of it but were glad that someone knew it. Things have been difficult for all of us, with Esther fainting frequently and house bound. Finally we're beginning to see the promised improvement. She's better. Still faints occasionally, but not daily like before.
I'm just so happy that she is still here with us and I want to make her day special. I will pay for petrol and your time too. I really want to do something great for her.
PLEASE IF YOU KNOW ANY OF YOUR MEMBERS THAT CAN HELP, I'll be eternally grateful.
The party is on Saturday Nov 20th at 6.30pm.
I can be contacted via email or 07780508415.
If you want to check up on my family, I'll give you work numbers to call if you wish.
Thanks.

Linda

Just to update everyone, The suprise went well for Esther yesterday evening, with two Porsches arriving to deliver her from home to her 16th Birthday Party a few miles away in Boston. The young Lady who has suffered considerably with an illness called POTS which VERY simply put is a syndrome that has the internal organs (mainly the heart) not keeping up with the growth of the body mainly seen in young ladies leading to debilitating walking difficulties and sudden fainting episodes and subsequent knocks from falls, was left speechless when the cars rolled up which her mum Linda said was most unusual for Esther. Elliot brought his 993 along and together with my Cayman S ensured all the children in the family did not miss out on being delivered to Esther's party in suprinsingly clean Porsche sports cars (for rather murky weather) being very different from the family people carrier. Also present was the paparazzi (well the Photographer from the Boston Standard) this was to aid Linda's wish to get the message out there about POTS and the help available from the STARS support group which has allowed Esther, her family and school to cope with the effects the syndrome. Many Family photos were taken with the cars, both Elliot and myself were pleased we had contributed to making Esther's party night kick off with such a suprise (Esther did tell me she thought something was up as her parents were playing musical cars earlier and thought perhaps a limo had been arranged but never thought that a comment about wanting a Porsche when she gets older a few months before would lead to what transpired). I know other Porsche Regions and Registers regularly get involved in supporting childrens charities and the events are often reported in PP and now with personal experience of spending very little time and effort using our beloved Porsche to bring out some big smiles and extreme gratitude from doting parents we were pleased we could assist in a small way on this particular request. Cheers Elliot. Paul

sounds like you made her night, and by all accounts quite a few others as well, would have been nice if i could have got off work and came as well, but alas could not[:(]

Great result Paul, we are in privileged postion owning these cars and does give a nice feeling helping others who dream of such things... Well done on showing that human spirit and making a lovely memory for the whole family. garyw
