Free 924 bits

Hi All

Dragging the Guards red 1979 924 out of the garage and off to scrap yard heaven not sure if anything is worth saving but dash is good, door cards good, all panels & bumpers perfect, really nice car needs clutch..at least has been sat for 2-3 years.

If any one wants bits (or the whole thing) send an email to:

email @ busheyaerials .com

I am turning of life support in 7-10 days.

Seats gone, sunroof will be on eBay.

Edit: Car in Bushey WD23

What colour is the dash? By "good condition" do you mean no cracks, or just not too many?

I'm desperately trying to think of all the little bits the cabriolet project is currently missing. I work in Borehamwood, so not that far away if my memory serves me correct, any chance of coming over to have a look some time? A nr side taillight wouldn't go amiss! What colour is the interior - it doesn't have a cream-carpeted centre consol by any chance does it?

Sounds a shame that it has to go to the scrap man if it is basically sound... shame I already have too many projects!

Come round any time I am pretty much next to Costcos I am on: 0800 3213 911

All lights present and correct.

No dash cracks, car was mint until race prepped it and then stored it, interior is black.

Its a shame that youre so far away, because I could really do with the dashboard and door cards...

Hi,

I need a working speedo and the long gearchange lever with a not too worn joint at the gearbox end.

Can you help?

Best regards, baz

Speedo works, gear change felt OK to me but I have no idea regarding the how worn the gear change lever actually is but if you want to come and look thats fine.

I'm in Watford and could pop over. Don't need much really. Do have the metal things that hold the carpet mats in place? Or a black rear luggage blind?

Hi,

regarding the speedo and gearchange lever, can you remove and post? i will pay all costs.

best regards, baz

Sorry Baz

If I had the time I would, hope you understand.
.........mind you if I had the time it wouldn't have sat idle for 2 years.

Thanks very much for allowing me to pilfer parts from your car - there are three cars in Dorset which will benefit from this, including my Turbo Cabriolet project.

Parts I removed, funnily enough, all the standard ones many people are looking for - dash, door cards, gauges, and a couple of less commonly required parts - windscreen washer nozzles, windscreen side trims.

I noted that a couple of other parts might well be worth holding onto - mirror glasses are stupidly expensive to replace and just pull out, and the indicator stalk assembly is presumably specific to very early cars - since I removed it to take the dash out, it is now easily removed again as teh steering wheel is only finger-tight! I gave up on the nearside rear light as the studs were spinning rather than the nuts coming undone.

I think some-one was asking about the gear lever - I waggled it and it felt pretty good. Also, whilst I have taken the speedo, it will be replacing one in a 924 currently fitted with an early 944 gauge, so if you just require something functional, I'll have a word and see if the 944 one can be made available.

Working just down the road as I do, and travelling regularly to Wiltshire/Dorset, if I can be of any further assistance to yourself or other members, let me know.

Regards,

Tref.

If you mean the little black strips with a popper on the end... I may have some - They may not be in the best of condition, but I can try and look them out for you.

No problem, I'll try and dig them out - how many do you need? I'm not sure how many there should be - one or two per seat... or how many I have. I will be back in London tomorrow.

Tref.

I am now back in London, with a couple of the mat retaining straps, so if you want to give me a call to arrange hand-over - tel. 07780 507197.
