My blower kept producing a burning smell so today I contorted myself under the hood and got it out. After splitting everything up I can't get the motor off of the fan blades, any ideas?

The scream on mine was due to a dry bearing. I just took it out and gave the bearings a squirt of WD-40.
I got mine from type 911 (chap above) can supply link if you want. Cost about £74 delivered and arrived almost next day. Hardest thing was getting it all back together the right way round. Should have taken photos and covered the small gap around the fuel tank.ORIGINAL: BigAl1
Mark - who supplied the motor? Looks as if I might need one. Mine has packed up but not yet investigated.

Mine had been screaming on and off for years until it finally burnt out. There is an excellent guide on impact bumpers which I can post the link to. For a computer bod with very few practical skills, I found it easy.
So nice to have quiet fresh air again.
You also have to be sure to reconnect the drain securely at bottom of air box.
Here you go impact bumper link, not sure if you have to be a member or not to view it. It worked for me as a complete buffoon with spanners.
Notes that I would add:
1. Take photos before you start, mine is LHD and I couldn't remember the position of the arm that operates the flaps in the box, probably take a photo of the box when you get it open.
2. Put a towl down so that the gap around the fuel tank is covered, the clip for the cable pinged trying to get it back on and it went down there, so need a new one.
3. Be patient, some of the clips on the box are a bitch to get back on, well two of them were.
It's very satisfying to get it all working properly again though.
