Hi all, following text is from a friend in Belgium, posted on smartgroups, but I thought I'd put here to give more 'air'.
Thanks in advance .........I'll pass any feedack to him.

Jon

I have an ennoying problem, hope that somebody can give some advice on the most likely cause.
When I drive my 91 C4 for a while, a very sharp rattle starts to occur (like a cricket almost...), seemingly coming from the dashboard. It does not appear always - typically after some time (because the engine gets warmed up or because the heater has worked some time??). I was thinking that it might come from the heater/aircon control unit because when I put the blower control knob to 1 or higher, the sound stops... unless I push the gas pedal - then I hear the same sound but not continuously.
Strange and very unpleasant...

P.S. One of my pics......my daughters highlighting my smooth driving style ;-D

fan on RHS just behind the firewall? Mine does the same, hence nicknamed 'the cricket'. There's a fix on rennlist, but basically you have to take the fusebox off and the firewall out, and then you can access the fans to lube the bearings. Putting new fans in is expensive, and the LHS one requires you to remove the expansion tank of the fuel tank (from memory), so a harder job. I have been assured that the fuse and firewall removal etc is a 1 hour job to fix this...although I havent done it myself yet!

Tim - Are you calling my engine wet ? ;-D
Mel - yeah, I can't believe they're comfortable either !
This was after a blast round Luxembourg with Erik & Griet Rega (in their C2 WTL cabrio).....and the kids fell asleep !!!
Is my driving that boring ? Maybe need some tips during some track time in the New Year, Mel ! Then you can demonstrate to me & Natacha why I also NEED an RS to keep mine company (don't think I'll just afford a cuppie, or be able to find one!).

Enjoy (as if there's any doubt!),

Jon

P.S. Kids are STILL asleep at this point.........
