front and rear windscrean removal

My pre 73 Porsche 911 Targa is having a colour change at 'Classic and Custom Works' in Penn Street near High Wycombe. Before taking the job on they explained they would want a specialist to remove and re-instate the front and rear windscreens.

I am nearly at the stage where the windscreens need to be removed, can anyone advise me who could help me with this.

Many thanks

Dan

Contact Nick Moss, he'll know someone who can do the job professionally without grief, you don't want to get this wrong!

I've just had the screen out on my '74 Targa for some paint. I've got to drop off some parts later so I will ask who took the screen out and let you know his details if I can get them. He might be prepared to go to Wycombe - I'm in Reading.

Thanks, I've spoken to Nick Moss who does have someone local to him in East Sussex but Reading would be closer. Nick said putting back the rear Targa window is the job I should ask someone else to undertake as there are few people who are prepared to do this.

lol.............yes garages dread being asked to do this [:D] whoever fits it finally make sure that they have a lot of experience of the job, if it damaged, you have a serious problem! [:(]

Back already!

Ty at Excel Car Body in Reading says he wouldn't trsut the job to anyone but Mark of Reading Auto Glaze. He's available on 07944 574475. Apparently quite a few Porsche specialists use him.

It's worth noting that the Targa hoop needs to come off first before the rear screen can be removed, and I'm told most windscreen fitters won't want to get involved with that.

Hope this helps.

Craig

With the front screen just take care if the rubber is poor cut it and fit with new rubber. The rear just takes time! not a job you can do in an hour put the chrombs in first and dont forget the cables for the heated rear screen. berny.
