Front anti roll bar, control arm mount snapped

Hi All

Problem 1 [:(]

I noticed @ the weekend whilst admiring its beauty of my 944 S2 Cab that the front driverside looked lower than the nearside. After a quck measure. Sure enough D/S lower by approx 27mm. OH S**t. ££££££ (shocks, coil spring, control arm????)I thought. Inspected underside of car nothing at first glance. Then I noticed anti roll bar mount on underside of control arm has snapped.
This would account for the occasional knock/clunk when going over large pot holes.
Has anyone had to fix this problem. Looks like you'll need a fair ammount of strength to relocate the antiroll bar.

Any advice / help welcome.

DIY or mechanic.

Should improve the handling when fixed.[:)]

Dont panic, it should be a very simple repair. I would be inclined to remove the ARB and replace all the bushes while you are at it. I did this to my turbo a few months ago and it did make a difference. The bar comes off easily and does not require forcing back into place.
If you do replace all the bushes, make sure you get the right size - according to PET there are 6 different sizes, ranging from 20mm to 26.8mm. Mine were 26.8mm and cost for all of them from OPC was about £50.
Also check whether someone has fitted a larger ARB at some point - I believe it is fairly common to fit a 968 CS bar. This could also explain why the mount has broken - the loads generated will be greater than standard and possibly too much for the standard brackets.

I believe the design is the same for 968's as well so the different bar shouldn't cause extra loads. I think they just fatigue through. You can get an extra support bracket from the US (possibly KLA) that strengthens the bar.
It is important to have both wheels at the same height (no roll) when changing the arb's otherwise there will be tension.

My nearside droplink snapped about 4 years ago. Mr Mechanic stated it's always this side that goes first as they hit the kerbs or draincovers [&:]

I've had to replace mine on the 944S in the past. An easy enough job.

Problem caused by the 43 road humps that I have to negotiate on my way to work in the mornings.

Problem solved by going to work in a Range Rover now.

Ken Livingston really is an A??hole.

I might be slow but i'm not that slooooow! [;)]
Would have been quicker if I could have found the other axel stand [:D]
