Front ARB Mounting - broken. And where's an OPC ...

Chaps,

My S2 has felt a bit 'loose' on the road recently. I've just hoiked it up in the air to see what's up. Simple result - one of the front ARB mountings has snapped. Not the long leg which sticks down, the strip that wraps 'round the ARB bush, part number 944 343 731 02. A picture of it (shamelessly stolen from someone else) looks like this:

I'm going to try and get one from my OPC tomorrow (East London.) However, I am due to drive to Shropshire on Saturday morning to spend the BH weekend with the in-laws, and I don't want to make the trip with only one side of the front ARB connected. (Both because it's probably not terribly safe, and because as a Londoner, playing on some decent and empty Shropshire country roads is something I like to enjoy as much as possible!)

So, my question is, what are the odds of my local OPC having this part in stock, if they don't have it then how quickly can they get it (same day?) And if not, what is the nearest OPC to postcode SY6 7JZ? (Yes, I have tried the Porsche.co.uk website, but their OPC-finder says "Sorry, no OPC's match your search criteria" when I put this postcode in. I know it's rural but that's just daft.) In fact, come to think about it, the odds of an OPC having it's parts centre open on a Saturday morning are pretty slender anyway aren't they ...

I guess the other option would be to get a supplier to post the part to aforementioned in-laws. Maybe that's an idea.

OK, I've found the answer to the OPC question ... Solihull or Sutton Coldfield. Neither of which are even remotely close to Shropshire. And neither of which have a Parts department open on Saturday morning, I'll bet.

Oli,
Why don't you do M4 to Swindon OPC, A419 to M5 and then M6/M54 etc.
That assumes Swindon is open Sat am (Steve Bull is and is only 20 mins from the M4) same junction. Alternatively would ECP have one? There's one of those here too!
Just a thought. If I wasn't at work I could take you for a ride in a proper 944.........[;)]

ETA OPC 8.30-12.30 parts and service

Good idea, David. Another alternative is Reading OPC...theyare about 500 mteres north of M4 J12 on the A4. They used to be open Saturdays R19 used to have occasional events there until they realised, I suspect, that none of us was likely to fork out £40k for a new Boxster!!

Chaps,

Thanks for your answers.

As it was, it turned out to be a storm in a teacup - my local OPC (East London) had one in stock, and I have just collected it. I'll fit it later on this morning.

(I've ordered another one as well, as I would like to replace both sides; if one has broken, it's a fair bet that the other one is on its last legs. And for six quid, it seems to make sense.)

Thanks for your suggestions. Good route-planning as well, chaps!

OK, new part fitted. Bolted up (usual fight with the ARB to get everything into place) with some nice shiny new stainless bolts and nylock nuts. Something about replacing nuts and bolts when you do a job, with shiny ones, makes the whole job more satisfying.

So, all set for a bit of a hoon on some half-decent roads outside of the ghastly metropolis commonly known as 'London'.

Thanks for the suggestions. And thanks particularly to Colin Dougan (944 LIL on here) for the offer of the loan of his 944 (or other car) to do the trip to the in-laws in. That really was appreciated - thank you Colin.
