Front Bumper protective grills

Folks,
I'm considering installing Zunsport protective grills, details as per design911 website below.
Has anyone else done this?
Are they easy to fit?
Do they provide effective protection?
Thanks in advance.
Paul

I've fitted black mesh grills and although they look very nice I don't think that they will make the A/C condensers last any longer, it's true that they keep out the leaves, but my condensers have just been replaced because they were leaking, but the leaks were in the centre of the units and not on the bottom where the leaves cause the condensers to rot. [&o]

They were obviously leaking in middle because something heavier than a leaf had hit them......

My Zunsport grilles will stop a 'rock'...... & with the lack of leaves getting through too will hopefully have a longer life expectancy than most.....

Paul, don't know what colour your car is but the black are very discreet

Zunsport ones are easy to fit. The side duct ones take 5 min to fit on the carrera.

Guys,
thanks for your thoughts and advice.
My car is a 2003 facelift C2 tip in midnight blue and I was thinking the stainless grills might give the front end a bit more impact and be slightly more colour coordinated with the recently refurb'd wheels.
Some 'zoomable' photos on this page => www.chrysanthemums.info/zoom/car.htm
Thanks again.

Hi Paul. Your car looks good and I think the external stainless grils won't look good. Go for black mesh grills fitted inside the PU. Thats what I went for and had them fitted when I had a major service done so the cost was quite low as the PU was off anyway as part of the service. Good luck whatever you decide.

Folks,
just a quick entry to complete the topic.
Thanks for the advice, I chose the black Zunsport grills and fitted them last week.
Photo below. Pleased with the end result.
Regards,
Paul

I don't think your assumption is correct, as the leaks were both caused by corrosion and it would be a strange coincidence that both were damaged in the same place and at the same time - especially as the leaks occurred a couple of years after I fitted the mesh [8D]

Still the black mesh does enhance the appearance of the car, I got mine from Parr.

I have these Zun sport grills and had them fitted when I got the condensers done and they will stop stones and a lot of muck getting in, when you fit them you notice how protected the condensers are compared to before.

Mind you they are not cheap but look the job.

Has anybody who has fitted he zunsport grilles experienced any temperature issues? I note in my manual, porsche say to not to fit grilles as it might cause high temperature warning light on 996 temp gauge to show?

No issues since fitting last November.

Just completed appx 900 miles round trip to porsches on the prom and no noticeable temp fluctuations during the trip.
Regards,
Paul
PS if it interests you there are photos from Porsches on the Prom 2013 at www.barlow.org.uk under Regional Events.

You also forgot the radiators. Best bit of it all is that the official Porsche workshop manual does not have instructions on how to remove and replace the radiators (nor for the 986). Don't think they expected the radiators to be consumable items. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
