Chaps, need your help please.
What is the best method of re fitting the front bumper central rubber back into the hard plastic strip that mounts to the bumper itself. The model is an '81 SC.
Hope you don't mind !!
Cheers, Nick.

If you ve pulled the lateral rubber off and left the hard plastic insert still on the bumper, you need to prise the plastic off the bumper and re-fit it inside the rubber. You then have to lign up the studs on the rear of the plastic and pop it back on.Its usually a good idea to renew these fasteners as they become brittle with age.Hope this helps.

Totally agree. Assuming the clips are good, you will be very fortunate to get the strip back without removing them and sliding in the channel at the back of the strip. Once done, I would fit an end one onto the bumper, align the others with the holes and gradually work along the length pushing them home. Probably best to support the strip as you go otherwise the clips may just as easily pull out again.

Thanks for all your advise chaps !

I managed to refit it by spraying some silicone onto the hard plastic mounting strip whilst still fixed to the bumper, and more silicone on the rubber strip itself. It slid back in a treat, then I just replaced the two phillips screws at each end.

Job done !

Regards,

Nick.
