front bumper sealing wedges

Folks,
I'm wondering if anyone can help to locate where the front bumper sealing wedges should be located in the front bumpers on our cars. I see them listed as part numbers 99357574000 and 9935753800 but I'm struggling to determine:

1. Where they should be located in the bumper ?
2. Are they on all models ?
3. Are they supposed to be on both sides, or just one side (the parts diagram seems to show them only one side on a certain independents website).

Having just removed my front inner wings, i've found what I think are the remnants of these wedges sitting in the bottom recess of the front pu. They are deteriorated beyond recognition, but i think I have two separate blocks of mush from the drivers side and one from the passengers side.

If anyone has pics of these area's to show them in situ, that would be a fantastic help.

Regards

Andrew

I went through this process a couple of years back when I had my bumper off to replace the oil cooler fan. There are two foam pieces (surprisingly large and strangely shaped) and both go on the off-side, around about the area of the indicator/fog light but I can't remember exactly where. I found a picture somewhere on the web that showed where they sit but don't have this to hand.

I'm not sure exactly what they do but presume it is something to do with air flow, possibly to the oil cooler? I presumed that Porsche didn't fit them for a joke and as they were only a couple of quid each fitted new ones without further questioning. When I was fitting them I remembered pulling little bits of crumbly foam-like stuff out of the vents in the lower quarter valence many years ago when I was cleaning the car and not knowing what it was.

I believe they should be fitted to all models.

Let me know if you need the location picture and I'll see if I can dig it out.

Thanks Clyde, very helpful. If you think you can find a picture, that would be great. I'm coming up short on my googling for one myself so far !

I am thinking they may be on both sides on my car because it has air-conditioning (option 573) so there is a very similar arrangement of radiator and fan located on both sides on my car....but I'm still not entirely sure.

Cheers

Andrew

My car also has air con but I didn't fit them to both sides. I'm pretty sure PET only indicates one of each per car.

I'll try and find the picture when I get in tonight.

Hopefully the picture goes through, if not you'll find it here http://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/800031-re-turbo-bumper-foam-pieces.html#post11130335

Guys your local OPC parts department are quite happy to help. They will email copies of the current up to date pages from the parts catalogue and give you a 10% discount.

Thanks. That's exactly what i needed. The parts diagrams unfortunately just don't show the detail unfortunately of where they should locate. Many thanks

Andrew

Thanks for the other comments. The rennlist post is particularly useful as it highlights the suggested function of the wedges being to aid the maximisation of air flow into the oil cooler which seems both reasonable and explains why they aren't present on the passenger side.

Thanks all

Andrew
