Hello ! ,

After some help please. I have a 2000 2.7 Boxster and it's used as a weekend car and has 80K on the clock. Runs lovely but done 200+ miles this weekend and just noticed a dull creaking from the front. I couldn't see any spring damage but opened the bonnet and rocked the car. I get a dull sounding creaking which I think might be the lower control arms ? ( coffin boxes ) can anyone offer some advice / parts help please ? I am sure this is a common problem which many may have experienced. Car runs A1.

Kind regards and thank you

Paul

Hello!

I had the same issue. When turning the steering or going over bumps, I would get a creaking sound. I replaced the coffin arm and the sound cleared. It was caused by the ball joint on the coffin arm. I sourced the part from Euro car parts who supplied me with an identical OEM part. The only difference being the logo had been ground off the OEM Euro car parts item, all the numbers matched the origina arm. They do offer cheaper arms but I would recommend going for the OEM quality replacement which I believe was made be TRW.

Absolutely 100% agree it is most likely to be the coffin arms, drove me mad for months before I could pinpoint the problem but once I did...........ahh silence once again[:D]
