Front door speakers

Hey all. I have the speaker covers but no sound. Have messed around with the Fader but nowt on the rear channel.

Are the door speakers installed as standard or do need to retro fit them. As yet i have not removed the headunit to check the obvious cabling question... But will do tonight... Not too keen on removing the door panels though? Any tips on doing this though?

Thanks

The door speakers (at least with the Porsche Sound Pack) are only low-range/bass speakers.

Before you start pulling things apart, turn up the bass on the stereo and put the palm of your hand over the speaker and you should be able to feel it working.

IIRC non-PSP/BOSE 986s, i.e. no door speakers, have differing door cards, with no speaker covers only carpet (and also, I believe, no door lights).

Well i have the door cards with grilles in. So does that mean i 'may' have PSP or summot else? And also door lights....

My last cap (Non porsche) had the grilles but nothin behind... Very disappointing...!

As Mark said above, if you've got the speaker grilles, and the door lights, then you SHOULD have the speakers in the doors...[:)]

Ah - issue solved... You are correct they are just bass speakers. There is nothing connected to the rear channel on my Boxster. Are there any good aftermarket rears that can be installed?

Thanks

I had this on my Boxster S. Opening the fuse compartment in the drivers footwell, removing the fuse and then refitting after 2 minutes or so gave me the sound back. I had the Porsche CDR22 and PSP in my car...

How can i 100% confirm that i do have PSP (or not). And where should the 'Rear' speakers be located...

I'll pull the headunit out on weekend and check the connections etc...!

I have PSP in a 986 and (1) there is an amp mounted in the front luggage compartment, at the rear, behind the spare wheel, and (2) the standard fit hi-fi only has full-range speakers in the dash.
