front driver side inner edge tyre baldness

They never managed to find anything when 3 different dealerships tried to find the front end clunking, so I guess the 2 things could be connected. They all commented everything was tight with no play, so maybe one of them moved something pulling and pushing the suspension about.
I am going to book it back in at Silverstone when I get a day to spare so they can have a look and sort it. Hopefully, there is something obvious so both problems can be soved.
Thanks
In the end they skimmed my brake disks that were getting bad and fixed a small oil leak for £400
They also wanted 300 notes to change rusted exhaust bolts.
They did give me Cayenne S for the day so I not too unhappy.

I'd seen many posts relating to Centre Gravity and as I was attending the PCGB workers conference at Cornbury house I made an appointment to drop in and see Chris on my way past. Needless to say his diary was busy but he did afford me a couple of hours starting with an appraisal by me of how I thought my car handled. Symptoms were slight pull to the left, jiggly on the motorway particularly over the juggernaught ruts in lane 1, (what am I doing in that lane youmight ask []) and a general lack of sharpness when compared to my previous C4S.
Chris then had a quick test drive of my car and informed me what he would be likely to see when he checked the geometry. He then performed a visual check using wheel arches wear on the tyres amongst other things to show me my wheels were pointing in slightly different directions. To the untrained eye you would never have noticed, once pointed out however a blind man on a galloping horse could see the inconsistencies between near and off side wheels, front and back. That analysis alone was enough to convince me to book my car in for the geo set up. Chris also looked at the bushes etc and pronounced a clean bill of health.
Then the snow came!!!! my apointment was postponed and it was January before I could get a slot, no problem though as the car was tucked up in the garage with its cover on while my front wheel drive Audi proved its utter incompetence in the white stuff.
Fast forward to January 20th and geo day at CG. Chris rechecked the car to confirm his previous diagnosis and set to work fettling. Being an enthusiast I was keen to learn more about my car and Chris duly obliged pointing out exactly what he was doing why and the impact and effect it would have on the cars handling. The 4 hours or so he spent was an education and he treats the car as if it were his own. The resulting test drive was amazing firstly being a passenger whilst Chris put the car through its paces, ensuring his adjustments were satisfactory in line with my preferred driving style and use, (no track days for me) and then when I got behind the wheel the transformation was unbelievable, pin sharp steering, no vagueness or wandering it truly was a different car.
In my book well worth the effort on my part to travel from the North East to the Midlands and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else in the future. The personal touch the transparency of what Chris does, the care and attention to detail not just on my car but others I've seen him work on means it is a no brainer.
Hope this helps others in the same position
Called them todad. They will sort out the top mounts at a very good price.
Also they will store the car whist the wheels get refurbed at Metal Magic before new rubber and geometry set up.
They then said they can sort the geometry, but also mentioned centre gravity if I wanted a more custom adjustment.
The service so far has been great and I will keep you updated when its all done.

Stuart at National Tyres Barnsley got me a great price on a full set of new Conti's and even delivered them direct to Metal Magic.
The Guys at Metal Magic have promised to turn the wheels round in 3 days.
John at PE cars had some other ideas on the knocking sound and inspires confidence that this may be a thing of the past.
Fingers crossed that all will go to plan and I will get the car back at the end of the week.
The top mounts weren't worn enough to be causing a problem, but I changed them anyway. Apparently one of the top mounts was adjusted completely to one side and so John was not surprised by the tyre wear. This is despite the Porsche dealer cleaning it had a full geometry when supplied 7000 miles ago. When the geometry was set up the top mounts ended up roughly at the central adjustment point.
My front end clucking was diagnosed as a worn ball joint on the steering and they changed this. John said it is a common problem especially if the clunking only happens when the car is hot. The heat in the ball makes it stick and therefore produce the noise.
The car drives sweet as can be and no more low speed clunking !
Hopefully this is the last of the bills for awhile and I can start building up the cash reserves.
