Front Koni Adjustment. How?

David Hooper

New member
Have finally got the front suspension all rebushed etc and back together using the 944T Konis 951 343 031/032 06 with Weltmeister springs and am trying to figure the method of adjustment.
On the side of the shocks it says adjustable with two arrows, one pointing clock the other anticlock, with + & - for harder/softer.
Car is now all settled with a run yesterday and up to Donington today but I can't figure the adjustment, There is no seperate adjuster mechanism at the top as on the aftermarket shocks and undoing the top nut then turning the strut piston using the allen key hole doesn't give any feeling of anything being adjusted i.e. clicks etc. I also tried taking the weight off the shock by jacking the car up so as to extend it but also nothing.

The rears adjusted by removing the bump stops, pushing the shock up and then I could feel it engage and just turned as needed to firm up or down.

Any help or thoughts much appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Dave - are you saying they don't have the little knob (he-he!) at the top, which can be turned clock wise and anti clockwise?

Sounds very strange if they are 951 Koni's - I've got them on my 968 too. They don't click as your turn the knob, but as you reach the limit of how many times you can turn the knob, the resistance increases.

There's a guide here anyway:

Hope this helps!

Thats interesting Marv as the shocks I've got are mentioned in that piece and are adjustable. No, there is no tab on the top for adjustment. Can't figure it at all.
Going to Zentrum tomorrow for full suspension line up so will see what they think.

The M030 Konis have the little tab at the top and a plastic knob for easy adjustment. It sounds like you have the M474 Konis which have to be taken off the car to adjust [&o]

Not one of their better methods then[]

Had it lined up at Zentrum yesterday and set just towards the limits and it feels great. Not a track animal so won't be taking off the fronts to adjust.
Maybe[;)]

Thanks chaps.
