Front Spoiler - C4S

Hi all,
I'm after a little advice regadring the C4S and in particular the front spoiler. A relative of mine has just replaced her 993 C2S with a 996 C4S, however with the slightly longer overhang of the 996 she's now having problems with the front spoiler grounding when getting into her garage.
I've not actually seen the car yet appart from the photo attached, but it appears that the front spoiler is painted and looks to be integral with the front bumper. Having had a look at a few other vehicles on the net, it looks as if there was the option of a flexible front spoiler; ruberised or otherwise.
Were just looking at the options to avoid further damage;
1) remove the spoiler and possibly upset the balance and aerodynamics
2) replace the spoiler with a flexible rubber one, are they available ?
3) Get in contact with the local council and get the profile of the path / driveway altered.........[:'(]

That looks like the standard black plastic lower section (about the lower 2") has been painted body colour?
Either that or a different PU has been fitted.

I think the standard black lower section is "sacrificial" - and easily replaced if it gets damaged (can anyone confirm this?)

I can understand painting it body colour - it looks a bit cheap compared to the rest of the car, but you do run the risk of this happening.
 
On mine the bottom of the front bumper is unpainted plastic.
I thought it was only painted if you went for the aero kit.

I have grounded mine, but scuffing black nylon or polypropylene (or whatever they make it from) is not so bad and does not really notice.
I am not aware of a rubber one. The standard unpainted one is still quite hard and does scuff if grounded.

Removing it would look slightly strange I would think, since I am not sure how well finished the bottom edge of the bumper is since it was intended to have this extra lip.
Additionally, Porsche would claim that it would upset the aerodynmacs since it is there to reduce front end lift. (I have the figures in a book for how many kilograms, but it is at home somewhere.) However, this would only be noticeable at licence and freedom threatening speeds, so in practice I doubt you would notice on the road. Nevertheless, it may be an issue for insurance purposes to remove it.

Would it make any difference to reverse in, rather than going forwards?
 
On my 98 996 with factory GT3 aerokit the front lip is body colour and is held in place by about a dozen plastic trim screws. The base of the bumper/nose is body colour. not too badly finished (you have to be on the floor to see this of course).

As even a casual glance at a miniscule change in gradient results in a loud graunching sound the leading edge is fairly chewed.

I have looked at other cars and a black rubber jobby seems to be the later mod, but is it successful???

Wether it would fit or not I haven't the foggiest idea. Taking it very crudely if the rubber lip has holes that dont line up with the existing holes then new holes could be easily drilled to suit.

That said I am having trouble picturing myself walking towards the front of my pride and joy with an electric drill in my hand. [:-]
 
The lower lip of the front bumper can be replaced/purchased for around £100. in standard black this can be scraped without worry.

Best advice as before is to reverse in...
